2020 Swim Team Season Canceled
The Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL) has canceled the 2020 Swim Season. As a result, there will be no BCRC Barracudas swim team or Bubbles classes this summer. In a letter to League members, the NVSL Board said they made their decision “to prioritize the safety of our participants, supporters, and communities.”
We are sadden by this news yet we understand the need for safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We miss you already.
This summer we are in Division 17 and will swim against:
- Pinewood Lake
- Edsall Park
- North Springfield
- Village West
Mark your calendars for Relay Carnival on July 8 and plan ahead for favorite special meets: Todd Potts IM Carnival and the Woodley Mini-Meet a.k.a. 10 and Under Thunder (both Sunday morning events this year).
Since 1971 the Broyhill Crest Barracudas have competed as members of the Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL). The Barracudas average 60 competitive members, and 10-15 Bubbles developmental swimmers. In 2017, the Barracudas won their first Division Title in 23 years and were promoted to Division 16. This year we will again compete in Division 17. Let's show them we are hungry to win the title again!
Summer swim is good exercise and friendly competition and part of the glue that makes us a cohesive community of neighbors. Both a team and individual sport, everyone can succeed by working hard and improving their own best time. Neighbors, family, and friends cheer for each other and the excitement on Saturday morning meets is contagious. Where else can a beginning 7-year old swimmer earn the same amount of points for his/her team as an 18-year old All Star?
The goals for our program are:
- to become the best swimmers that we can be.
- to demonstrate good sportsmanship and team spirit.
- to make lifelong friends, and
- to have FUN!
Barracuda News: We have an All Star!
